We’re 10 days away from the latest LEGO Star Wars series Rebuild the Galaxy, and Lucasfilm have released a 90-second clip of new footage from the opening episodes.
In the clip, our hero Sig has teamed up with Yesi Scala and “Jedi Bob”, a character voiced by Bobby Moynihan whose inclusion will delight early LEGO Star Wars fans.
For those not familiar with Jedi Bob, this is a reference to an early LEGO set from back in 2008; a gunship that came with an unnamed hooded Jedi with the yellow skin that was standard on old LEGO minifigures. In lieu of an official name, fans started calling him “Jedi Bob” and here we are. It’s a cool touch that will bring a smile to the faces of any Star Wars fans who recognize it. It’s a shame it’s probably a little too late to get him added as a playable character in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
The trio are being chased by Darth Dev in his TIE Fighter (that bares a resemblance to Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer), while they fly around in a Clone Wars LAAT/i gunship. During the fight, Jedi Bob builds Sebulba’s podracer and attaches it to the ship to keep it flying; they even added the classic sound of Selbulba’s podracer engine. Rebuild the Galaxy is certainly mixing together all eras of Star Wars in one big sandbox.
It looks like this series is going to be a tonne of fun — not just for fans of LEGO Star Wars and kids, but perhaps even people looking for a new animated Star Wars series after The Bad Batch ended earlier this year. At the very least, it will provide a fun distraction while we wait for Skeleton Crew in December. Assuming you’re not playing Star Wars Outlaws, that is.
LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy arrives on Disney Plus on Friday, September 13.
Josh is a huge Star Wars fan, who has spent far too much time wondering if any Star Wars character could defeat Thanos with all the Infinity Stones.
