New ‘Star Trek Lower Decks’ Trailer Reveals Action-Packed Final Season And Long-Awaited Character Return – TrekMovie.com

The fifth and final season of the animated adult comedy Star Trek: Lower Decks debuts on Paramount+ in exactly two weeks and there is a brand new trailer to give you a peek at what’s to come, including teasing a legacy character returning in a surprising way.

Everything is going great in season 5 trailer…

Check out the official trailer for Lower Decks season 5, debuting with two episodes on Thursday, October 24 on Paramount+ in the U.S. and internationally. Following the premiere, new episodes of the 10-episode-long season will drop every Thursday on the service leading up to the series finale on Thursday, December 19.

Here is the official synopsis and key art poster for season 5:

In season five of Star Trek: Lower Decks, the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos is tasked with closing “space potholes” – subspace rifts that are causing chaos in the Alpha Quadrant. Pothole duty would be easy for Junior Officers Mariner, Boimler, Tendi and Rutherford … If they didn’t also have to deal with an Orion war, furious Klingons, diplomatic catastrophes, murder mysteries and scariest of all: their own career aspirations. This upcoming season on Paramount+ is a celebration of this underdog crew who are dangerously close to being promoted out of the lower decks and into strange new Starfleet roles.

Season 5 poster

Lower Decks streams exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Latin America. Season 5 will also stream in Canada on Paramount+ and be broadcast on CTV Sci-Fi, premiering 10PM on Thursday, October 24. We are currently confirming where and how to see season 5 in other international markets.

OMG, Lt. Harry Kim!

There is a lot going on in this trailer and check back later for our full analysis, but one bit at the end stands out, notably the return of Harry Kim, with Star Trek: Voyager’s Garrett Wang voicing the role. In fact, it appears he is voicing many Kims as we see a collection of them and it is noted that one of them has two pips, making him a Starfleet lieutenant, and he is shocked to see, “you’re all still ensigns!?” This is of course a meta commentary on how Ensign Harry Kim not only never got a promotion during seven years in the Delta Quadrant, but somehow Star Trek canon hasn’t been able to give him a promotion (not even off-screen) in the many years since. There was a plan to bring him into Picard season 3 (as a captain) but that got scuttled, so the task of promoting Harry has fallen on Lower Decks, presuming this Lt. Kim is actually “Prime” Kim, of course.

More season 5 previews

On Star Trek Day in September Paramount+ released a clip from season 5 focused on Tendi.
