The second piece of Downloadable Content (DLC) from Ubisoft/Massive Entertainment’s Star Wars: Outlaws has been in the pipeline for a few months. While a release date has not been set yet, the game’s social media account have confirmed that a special preview of the new adventure will be part of Star Wars Celebration next week, in Japan.
Titled A Pirate’s Fortune, we know that it will feature Hondo Ohnaka. He will presumably partner with the game’s protagonist, Kay Vess (Humberly González), but the specific plot and gameplay details are to be revealed. There is no dedicated panel at Celebration for the game, so the most likely scenario is that it happens as part of the Live show that is streamed on YouTube. This is also how the teaser for Jedi: Survivor was revealed back in 2022.

Jim Cummings recently said that he’d done some facial recognition for Hondo for an upcoming project. The chances are that it’s either this new Outlaws DLC, or perhaps an upgrade to the Rise of the Resistance ride at Galaxy’s Edge. (A less likely, yet still possible scenario, is an appearance during The Mandalorian and Grogu.)
The new DLC had been originally announced for spring 2025, but so far there’s been no promotional push for it. Could they just drop it the day after it’s revealed in Japan? Or are they, perhaps, waiting for the Nintendo Switch 2 to hit the market? Star Wars Outlaws will be part of the wave of games released for the new console on Day One.
We also don’t know exactly what to expect from next Friday. The social media post described it as a “first glimpse” but the attached picture said “World Premiere”. They could just have it available for players to try it at the convention, and announce a release date for it at the same time. Back in 2022, they had booths where fans could test a very early version of Star Wars Hunters, the mobile and Switch game that was recently discontinued.
There will be a panel at the convention dedicated to one of the upcoming Star Wars games, Bit Reactor’s forthcoming turn-based game, which hasn’t been revealed yet.
Star Wars Outlaws was not the instant hit Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games had hoped for. The reviews of the game were mixed, and the players’ reception was not very warm — mostly driven by anger over premium add-ons, as well as frustration over parts of the gameplay, like forced stealth. The reception forced Ubisoft to delay the new Assassin’s Creed game a few months. (That game has now seen the light of day.)
Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as movies from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
