San Diego Comic-Con: ‘The Art of Star Wars Outlaws’ Book Announced, ‘The Acolyte’ Expands Into Novels, and More

San Diego Comic-Con is underway! It’s a quiet year for Lucasfilm and Star Wars, but they still brought out the guns for their Stories From a Galaxy Far, Far Away panel. Cast and crew from Star Wars Outlaws, along with authors from the High Republic, shared details on what they’ve been working on. As usual, this comes with tasty reveals; this year was no exception.

The panel was limited in the first half, focusing on Outlaws and things we’ve mostly already heard about the upcoming game. For a more detailed summary, you can check out Stardust Record’s thread here. However, it ended with an art book reveal, segueing into Lucasfilm Publishing’s presentation, which was nothing but bombs. If you’ve been hunting for answers and more from the world of The Acolyte, let’s get into it.

First up is the aforementioned Outlaws book, which will be released on June 3, 2025. From StarWars.com:

Following the tradition of Dark Horse art books that delve into the designs behind beloved video games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, The Art of Star Wars Outlaws will explore the distinct locations and new underworld characters from the first-ever open-world Star Wars game set between Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

Onto strictly publishing, the High Republic era was at the forefront. The finale of The Acolyte presented a lot of questions about Vernestra Rwoh, and you won’t have to wait too long to get answers. Justina Ireland is writing Wayseeker, an adult novel coming May 6, 2025. The story is set 20 years before the series.

Vernestra will also be getting the Black Series treatment from Hasbro.

For those craving more Jecki and Yord, Tessa Gratton has you covered. On July 29, 2025, an untitled young adult novel featuring the odd pairing will bring new life to the #YordHorde and the #JeckiJam… for better and worse.

On the comic side of things, next month’s The High Republic #10 won’t be the last Marvel run in the publishing initiative. Cavan Scott will go one more round in February 2025 with The High Republic: Fear of the Jedi. More details will come later, but Kelnacca will join the party.

From Marvel:

What scares the Jedi? Master Keeve Trennis sets upon a path that will change her life forever.

Guest-starring The Acolyte’s Kelnacca, the finale to Phase III of The High Republic era begins this February in ‘Star Wars: The High Republic – Fear of the Jedi’ #1.

The Acolyte and the High Republic are also getting new art books! Final covers for all are still in the works, but here is an early look at the cover for Kristen Baver’s The Art of the High Republic Volume 2, out February 2025.

From StarWars.com:

For fans hungry for even more concept art, The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic (Volume II) has been revealed from Abrams with this cover featuring young Vernestra Rwoh, Avar Kriss, and Bell Zettifar armored up and ready to fight a looming Nameless threat! A companion to the original concept art book covering the multimedia initiative, the new book by Kristin Baver explores Phase II and Phase III art with foreword by Vernestra Rwoh herself, The Acolyte’s Rebecca Henderson, arrives later this year.

Baver is also working on The Art of the Acolyte, while Pablo Hidalgo is writing The Acolyte Visual Guide. The former is due in July 2025, while the latter is set for March 4, 2025.

More details on all these and other panel reveals can be found on StarWars.com. Interestingly, not a word was said about the reveals from earlier this week, including Marvel’s Battle of Jakku storyline. So, if you haven’t heard about that, check out our coverage here.

Nate uses his love for Star Wars and movies in general as a way to cope with the pain of being a Minnesota sports fan. When he’s not at the theater, you can usually find Nate reading a comic, listening to an audiobook, or playing a Mario video game for the 1,000th time.
