After a long wait, we finally have the first official trailer for the third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and it is something to behold. We also now have an idea when the next season will arrive on Paramount+.
Hit it…
The stars and producers of Strange New Worlds often tout how the show embraces taking on different styles and tones, like the musical episode (“Subspace Rhapsody”) in season 2. The trailer for season 3 reveals how much they are leaning into this, with glimpses at a murder mystery, a rom-com, a documentary-style episode, and more. We also get a first look at some exciting guest stars.
Summer of Strange
We were hoping for a specific release date for season 3, but Paramount+ is keeping it a bit vague; they’ve promised it will arrive this summer without being more specific.
They did offer up a brief synopsis:
“In season 3, when we reconnect with the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, still under the command of Captain Pike, they face the conclusion of season two’s harrowing encounter with the Gorn. But new life and civilizations await, including a villain that will test our characters’ grit and resolve. An exciting twist on classic Star Trek, season three takes characters both new and beloved to new heights, and dives into thrilling adventures of faith, duty, romance, comedy, and mystery, with varying genres never before seen on any other Star Trek.”
Returning for season 3 are stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, and Babs Olusanmokun. Martin Quinn (who appeared in the season 2 finale) joins as a series regular playing Scotty. Season 3 also features guest stars Rhys Darby, Patton Oswalt, Cillian O’Sullivan, Melanie Scrofano, and Carol Kane, whom you can see in the trailer above along with special guest star Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk.
The fourth season of Strange New Worlds is already in production in Toronto, so we have even more of the show to look forward to, likely in 2026.
