Young Jedi Adventures has received four nominations by the National Academy for Television Arts and Sciences for the Children’s and Family Emmys. Young Jedi Adventures received nominations in the following categories: Voice Directing for an Animated Series, Music Direction and Composition for an Animated Program, Editing for a Preschool Animated Program, and Sound Mixing and Sound Editing for a Preschool Animated Program. This is only the 3rd annual Children’s and Family Emmys with the upcoming ceremony set to take place on March 15 in Los Angeles.
Rachel Schwartz, Head of the Children’s and Family Emmy Awards commented on the unique scope of this year’s considerations,
“This year’s nominations are particularly meaningful as much of the work being honored was delayed due to last year’s strikes. It is a privilege to have been named Head of a competition that is not only honoring exceptional talent but is also shaping the way children and their families interact with the world. Congratulations to all.”
Season two of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures released this past August. The show has received generally positive feedback with adults and kids alike praising the show’s cute animation, strong moral compass, and lighthearted storytelling. It is a preschool show, after all. However Nubs in particular, the young Pooba Jedi initiate, captured the hearts of fans of all ages with his blue teddy bear visage and goofy shenanigans.
While most fans have written off the show due to its target audience, it’s worth reminding folks (myself included) that it’s set in The High Republic featuring events concurrent to several of the adult novels, such as the opening of Starlight Beacon and the ongoing clash with the Nihil terrorist group. Leave it to Lucasfilm to indoctrinate the young early by interweaving storylines. Wait until these kids find out about the Drengir.
Regardless of whether or not you are a member of “Nubs Nation,” it’s always positive to see Star Wars creators recognized for their hard efforts. Congratulations to the entire Young Jedi Adventures team!
